The South Jersey Pops welcomes musicians, including high school and college students, who are prepared to improve their skills, and skillful musicians whose example can encourage and inspire their colleagues. Formal auditions are not required. Please see our recruitment needs for the different ensembles below. If you play a different instrument not listed, please feel free to inquire though we may not be able to seat you in the orchestra at this time. We may be able to seat you in one of our growing small ensembles.
Our ensembles include the main Pops Orchestra, the Oktoberfest Band (a German "oom-pah" band), and an all flute ensemble called the Magic Flutes.
For the orchestra, we are seeking musicians for the following sections: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass, Bassoon, Bass Clarinet, Horn, and Auxiliary Percussion.
For the Oktoberfest Band we are seeking musicians for the following sections: Tuba, Tenorhorn, Baritone, Horn, Accordion, and Vocalist (male or female; familiarity with German language ideal). We are also seeking an additional Trumpet or Flugelhorn for doubling first parts; this position is for advanced players only.
