The SJP Board of Trustees consists of 11 individuals, all of whom are elected by the Membership to serve three-year terms, not to exceed two consecutive terms. This year we have three trustees who have reached their term limit, one trustee who is up for re-election, and one vacant trustee position. As such, it is time to elect or re-elect five Trustees in 2024.

A little background on Trustees:

  • Who can be a Trustee? Trustees must be 18 years of age or older and must be nominated by at least two active Members.

  • What are the terms? Elected Trustees serve three-year terms beginning June 1st following the May elections.

  • What do Trustees do? Trustees are responsible for the day-to-day operations and strategic planning of the organization. All Trustees are responsible for one or more activities/committees, which can include, but is not limited to: Marketing, membership, fundraising, finance, concert day operations, volunteerism, communications, etc.

  • What skills do I need? Every member of the board brings a unique set of skills which can be applied to different aspects of operations. All Trustees are expected to be dedicated, passionate, organized, and able to work within a team to deliver against deadlines.

  • What about Board Officers? Board Officers, which consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer, all have unique roles with added responsibilities. These officers are elected by the Board during the annual planning meeting which is held by the Board during the summer break.

  • Who are our current Trustees? I hope you have been able to learn a little more about the board this year, and you know who the trustees are! Here is a summary (This year's election is for the positions highlighted in red).
